Process & Criteria

Admission to the Qasid program is competitive. Application forms are available year-round upon request. Questions include: an applicant’s previous study (both in university and non-university settings), reasons for learning Arabic, other classes that one is interested in taking while here, and any special concerns (need for financial aid, physical or learning disabilities, and the like).

During orientation, admitted students are required to take:

  1. A written entrance exam (approximately 1.5 - 2 hours for mid/advanced students, far less time for beginning students), and
  2. An oral interview, conducted by the Academic Director.

A goal-assessment interview (based upon an applicant's written responses) may also take place to better understand the specific needs of each student. For new students, these three things will together determine placement level
