Financial Aid Application

Introduction

We welcome your request for financial assistance with your Arabic studies at Qasid. Every year, as part of our commitment to making Arabic language studies as accessible as possible while maintaining high standards of excellence in both academics and service, we award tuition grants totaling upwards of fifty thousand dollars to those who qualify for assistance. This distinctive funding is made available to recipients on a quarter-by-quarter basis through a recurrent application process. Please keep in mind that due to the high number of students in the summer quarter, the chance of obtaining financial aid in that term is lower than compared to the fall, winter, and spring terms. Thus, with the number of grants available each term being limited, financial aid is not guaranteed. We encourage applicants to apply early, and to be as clear and accurate as possible in outlining their financial situation. As a rule, the financial aid committee will give preference to those who have clearly explored every alternate avenue of funding and have demonstrated an effort to meet tuition costs as much as possible. In other words, listing a lower income base will not necessarily bring more funding or improve the likelihood of receiving an award. Please note that the specific academic quarter (or quarters) and the total number of quarters for which financial aid is provided will vary for each student relative to their individual situations. Qasid reserves the right to rescind its commitments to a given financial aid offer in the event of a recipient violating institutional policies, performing below minimum academic standards, or if any changes occur to the conditions that they have stated in the application under which they received their financial aid offer. (For example, a student who leaves Qasid in the middle of a term or is found to have provided inaccurate information, or one who perhaps incurs an unexpected change in their financial status.)For those wishing to apply, we hope the following outline of conditions will be helpful ahead of filling in the application form itself, available here below. Please know that all information is confidential and will not affect academic admissions reviews. You are invited to contact us directly at the email address of admissions@qasid.com if you have any questions.

Policies for New Applicants

  1. Qasid will only accept a student’s financial aid application after receiving their completed, academic admissions application.
  2. The deadline for submitting financial aid applications is two weeks before the start of the term for which the student is applying (the first day of each term is marked by its relative orientation date).
  3. Recipients applying for academic admission to more than one term will not be guaranteed financial aid for subsequent terms beyond the initial award term, unless specified by the Financial Aid Committee. And any award for a given term is non-transferable to other terms without prior approval.
  4. Financial aid awards may only be applied to tuition for courses within the Classical Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic core programs. They are non-transferable to other Qasid offerings such as Ammiya or other supplementary courses, online courses, or private tutoring.

Policies for Continuing Students

  1. Financial aid recipients who wish to receive aid for a subsequent term must submit an updated financial aid application that reflects their expected financial status during that subsequent term.
  2. The deadline for submitting financial aid applications is two weeks before the start of the term for which the student is applying (the first day of each term is marked by its relative orientation date).
  3. To be eligible for continuing financial aid, a student must maintain a minimum grade average of 80% throughout their studies.
  4. Eligibility for continuing financial aid is also dependent upon a student having no more than four unexcused absences in their current term.
